As someone really in to VR, this solution seems overkill and doesn't play to the greatest strength of VR which is depth and positional tracking. I get that it's novel to have 'VR' but having the Google cardboard solution is overkill. I feel that it's being used as a way to pull people in to the actual idea, which is to have RFID in holds that pulls up solution videos to your mobile phone? I can see this being useful without the half baked VR experience. Just have the videos load up on your phone and carry on climbing.
